Time Is Running Out! New 2012 Lighting Legislation Takes Effect On July 14, 2012

There are many businesses and consumers who are about to be impacted by some of the biggest changes in the lighting  industry. In a few short months many of the common place lighting products will no long be manufactured.

Effective July 14, 2012 the US Department Of Energy will ban the manufacture of non-conforming Halogen PAR lamps/bulbs, Linear and U-Shaped fluorescent and Incandescent reflector bulbs. Those lamps/bulbs must meet minimum LPW (Lumen Per Watt) requirements. Most standard lamps/bulbs in these categories will fail to meet those requirements and will no longer be manufactured.

The LPW Requlations Will Effect The Follow Lamps/Bulbs:
  • All Standard Halogen PAR38, PAR30 and PAR20 that are 40-205 Watts
  • All Standard T12 U-Bend & Linear 4 Foot T12 Fluorescent Tubes
  • Many 4 Foot T8 Linear Fluorescent Tubes
  • Most 8 Foot T12 Fluorescent Single Pin (Slimline) and High Output
  • Some Incandescent Reflectors R20, R30, BR30, R40 and BR40 and affected
